MILAN - José Mourinho is satisfied with his team's Tim Cup performance against Livorno. "I think that Inter deserved to win," he told Rai Sport. "The team played compact, everything was under control, even in defence. Right from the start we had some great chances to take the lead, and we could have killed off the game earlier in the second half. I am satisfied: there are no injuries, no problems, and now we can think about the quarter-finals."
Wesley Sneijder's winning goal came from a free kick awarded after Nelson Rivas was adjudged to have handled the ball, a decision Serse Cosmi disputed. "The Livorno coach has the right to complain," said Mourinho. "If he's right or not, it's you who can understand better than me by looking at the replays, but I think that a team deserves to win if it has four or five scoring chances."
Speaking on Inter Channel, Mourinho praised Giulio Donati, who made his first-team debut against the Amaranto: "This is a nice Christmas present for him and for all of youth football. It's a message for all the boys. If they are honest, professional and play to the best of their possibilities, they can get to very high levels. Donati is a fantastic boy. I'm very happy for his debut."
