Show of support vital
Italian Football Federation president Franco Carraro explains what UEFA's
50th anniversary means to his association.
Over its 100-year history, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has been an
enthusiastic participant in establishing, developing and consolidating UEFA
and European football in general.
Cohesion and solidarity
The FIGC has made countless contributions to UEFA in terms of technical and
organisational assistance, offering the services of its personnel and
structures. The federation has actively pursued cohesion and solidarity at
international level, particularly in the last decade during which social
realities and sporting environments have evolved considerably in Europe.
Valuable assistance
Those federations with most resources and experience should continue to offer
their full support to other federations, the development of which represents
an undoubted benefit for the movement as a whole, both at club and
international level.
Equal opportunities
The recent accession of ten new countries to the European Union emphasises
the need for co-operation so that equal opportunities are afforded to all 52
federations irrespective of whether their countries are members of the EU or
not. The FIGC renews its commitment to this worthy objective as a tribute to
UEFA's Golden Jubilee.
