A failed to B = A failed against B
不管是哪种，都没有A胜的意思。

只有A made B fail 可以是A胜的意思。

但是，中文里可以把“A使B败”简略成“A败B”，英文里却不可以这样简略。
你了解这种简略，以为是当然的。如果你不懂中文，你就难以理解这种用法。
