MILAN - Ivan Ramiro Cordoba explained to Sky Sport Italia the recipe for success that saw Inter safely through to the first knockout round of the Champions League. "This match was like a final for us and we faced it with great concentration and determination," said the Colombian defender. "This is how you play these type of matches. It was very nice for us to reach this finishing post, it was a test for all of us against a team that knows how to be dangerous."
Cordoba came on for the injured Walter Samuel after 15 minutes and slotted in alongside Lucio as the Inter defence kept Rubin at bay. "Is Mourinho happy? Of course he is, just like everyone else. For now we have managed to reach this goal, now we have to keep working and do even better."
The veteran defender commented on the relationship between Mourinho and Balotelli. He said: "The coach has great experience. Mario just has to listen, learn and do his best like he did tonight. He has to express himself inside a team that loves him."
Looking ahead to the last sixteen draw, Cordoba says there are no easy teams in the Champions League. "You can't choose," he said. "If you want to win the competition you have to beat all the big teams. Tonight's match has given us an extra edge, there's was only one result for us. A special thanks to our fans. They were great. They spurred us on to victory tonight."
