Two postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Professor Fengtian Xue, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. The qualified candidate will be assigned to projects related to: (1) development of small molecule therapeutics for human diseases including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious disease, or (2) discovery and evaluation of fluorescence-based molecular imaging probes. Applicants should have a PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or biochemistry, with expertise in multi-step synthesis of peptides, heterocycles, and natural product derivatives. Prior experience with enzymatic assays, protein purification and characterization will be a plus. Successful candidates will have opportunity to collaborate closely with computational chemists, structure biologists, biochemists and molecular biologists in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, ranking the 9th of the Pharmacy Schools in the US.
