Guillermo BARROS SCHELOTTO
(Member of the Argentina National Team)
Position: Forward (FW)
Date of Birth: May 4, 1973 (30 years old)
Height / Weight:: 171cm / 72kg
Striker Barros Schelotto creates scoring opportunities by fully utilizing his
skills in dribbles from the side and fulfills them. He is a wing type player
who plays mainly on the right side, but he is also an extremely dangerous
player to his opponents in the penalty area. In the Toyota Libertadores Cup
this year, he scored a total of 6 goals, second only to the nine goals scored
by Marcelo Delgado who left the club after the competition. Especially in the
second game of Round 16 against Paysandu (Brazil), Barros Schelotto scored a
hat trick including the 2 PK points, contributing to the 4-2 win of his team.
It was an extraordinary performance to bring the team back from the edge
after losing the first game at home. His career as a professional player
began with a club named Gimnasia y Esgrima. He made his debut in the
Argentina National Team in 1995. In 1997, he joined Boca Juniors with his
twin brother, Gustavo (currently playing for Racing Club). At the 2000 Toyota
Cup, as his recovery from injury was not yet complete, he only played for the
last 5 minutes, and in 2001, as Delgado was removed from the field due to
penalty, he was isolated in the front line and saw a miserable loss. Hence,
it is anticipated that his enthusiasm to win this year is stronger than any
other player.
