The huge Chinese sports population loves Milan. A detailed research of the Asian Sports Barometer atributed 38% of the Chinese fans to Milan, with Real having 22.4% and Manchester 21.6%.
MILAN - Milan is the most loved football club in China, ahead of Real Madrid and Manchester United, according to a study which was published today in Peking.
The 38% of the interviewed by the Sports Barometer/TNS Sport Asia, institute which took care of the research, sides for Silvio Berlusconi's club. In second place there's Real Madrid with 22.4% and Manchester United in third place with 21.6%.
The last detailed research on Sport in China and the football passions of its inhabitants was done in 2003, and therefore it must be underlined that in six years the Rossoneri's appeal did not diminish, but such research was also done last year and there's always Milan on top.
The main difference to 12 months ago is the increasing presence of Chinese teams amongst the 15 most loved, according to what Pierre Justo (general director of TNS Sport Asia/CSM Media Research) explained: "This proves that there is an increasing interest towards local football, which before did not exist."
Amongst the 15 most loved teams in China there are five local clubs, four English teams, three Italian teams, two Spanish teams and then German side Bayern Munich.
The research was made on a number of persons which was not mnetioned, all of the age group between 15 and 54 years of age, inhabitants of the eleven main Chinese cities.
