China Graduate Development Programme
The year-long China Graduate Development Programme offers you structured devel
opment through a series of job rotations and tailored training courses, enabli
ng you to gain a clear insight into our growing business in China. Our two tra
cks give you the opportunity to choose and focus on the type of client segment
you would like to specialise in - Corporate, Investment Banking and Markets o
r Consumer Client. On either programme, you’ll find dedicated support and com
mitment to develop your professional, technical and personal skills, giving yo
u the best possible start in the world of banking. All roles offered at the en
d of the China Graduate Development Programme will be based in China.

Corporate, Investment Banking and Markets
On our Commercial Investment Banking and Markets track, you’ll rotate through
out our Commercial Client, Investment Banking, FX/Derivatives, Transaction Ban
king and Risk Management business units. The programme will give you a broad i
nsight into the work of these various functions, allowing you to make an infor
med decision as to where best your skills and interests lie.

Consumer Client
On our Consumer Client Segment track, you will enjoy rotations through our Con
sumer Banking business across China. You’ll contribute to areas as diverse as
Sales, Product Development, Client Engagement, Marketing, Strategic Planning
and Business Banking. This will give you comprehensive knowledge of the boomin
g consumer industry with a view to specialising in one of the functions on com
pleting of the programme.

Application process
After initial screening, if we think you have what it takes we'll invite you t
o the first stage of our selection process. If you pass the reasoning test her
e you'll be invited to a first-stage competency interview.

After this, if you're successful you'll be invited to the second stage, which
involves an interview with an experienced professional and an interview to tes
t your responses to a number of hypothetical situations. Then you'll take on a
case study involving written work, a one-to-one meeting with a 'client' and a
group meeting. You'll also have the chance for an informal discussion with re
cent graduates and representatives from your chosen business area.
