Job Summary

Intern position, 6 + months, at least 3 days a week, full time preferred.

The successful candidate will work with the Java Desktop Team (JDS) in Beijing
primarily focusing on improving accessibility for Firefox, Sun's browser and
Thunderbird, Sun's preferred mail client. We are looking for enthusiastic and
talented students with a strong sense of responsibility and excellent problem
solving skills.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
- assist in fixing bugs within the Mozilla community
- assist in testing/verifying accessibility bugs
- provide detailed bug reports on any bugs found
- work together with the Mozilla community
- work with Sun accessibility engineers

The following skills are required:
- be familiar with script language like Perl / Python
- strong C/C++ skills
- experience with web page design
- strong problem solving skills
- strong communication skills
- proficient in both conversational and written English
- familiar with UNIX OS, having Solaris experience being a distinct advantage
- ability to work with little supervision
- understanding of common accessibility issues in graphical user interfaces and
on the Internet
- experience with software testing
- ability to write high quality bug reports along with analyzing bug reports,
confirming bugs, and verify bug fixes


The following skills would be advantageous:
- experience working within an open source community particularly with GNOME or
Mozilla
- experience with perl and javascript programing
- MS student in Computer Engineering/Science preferred
- familiarity with the software life cycle
