Lucio: "Thanks to the fans"

MILAN - Lucio played his socks off against Chelsea, earning the praise of his team-mates and chants from the fans. "I'm pleased I helped the team when in need. Chelsea have great quality but I think Inter played better," he told Inter Channel.

The Brazil captain never came off second best against the Blues. "I took a few knocks, but I have time to recover before the return leg," he said. "The chants made me happy, but my concentration always remains on the pitch. I'm happy with the support of my fans, which is always very important, but I am even happier about the victory of my team."

Lucio also had a thought for Julio Cesar, whose presence against Chelsea was in doubt after Sunday evening's car crash: "These haven't been easy days for him, but Inter will always support Julio, as a man and a professional. Let's hope he's back in top form soon."
