MILAN - A satisfied Massimo Moratti spoke on Inter Channel after watching his team overcome Chelsea at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
"We did very well and it wasn't an easy game," he said. "Our opponents were in form, physically they were strong and very fast, they ran throughout and they always moved well. Inter, though, reacted perfectly.
"Cambiasso was fantastic. For his goal he would even have taken a third shot if necessary. And Milito's goal was a typical Milito goal, it was fantastic. It was important to win tonight - not just for the Champions League, but also for everything else."
The Inter president knew his team had studied the match right down to every last detail. "I had no doubts about my team. Knowing my players and, above all, knowing Mourinho, who had prepared this match well, and putting on Balotelli at the end of the match is typical of a coach who thinks about the best victory rather than about himself. He knows how to change his team with different systems and change it according to the situation."
Commenting on AC Milan's win in their game in hand over Fiorentina, Moratti said: "It's uphill now. They players know it won't be in our favour like it seemed a few weeks ago. But we have enough experience to know that we have to show our character. Not nervousness, but character."
Moratti singled out Inter's central defenders for their flawless performances against Chelsea: "Lucio was incredible, courageous. He did nothing wrong tonight. Samuel also played incredibly."
