Inter defender Christian Chivu was finally operated to his shoulder today.

After months and months of delay, Inter defender and Romanian international Christian Chivu was finally operated to his shoulder today to resolve the problem which had been bothering him throughout the season.

The operation, which succeeded perfectly, was anticipated on request of the Inter medical staff, but especially of coach Jose Mourinho, who wants Chivu to be in perfect shape for the start of next season. The new Serie A season begins on 31 August.

However, you never know what might happen in today's football world, and there have been rumours that Barcelona are strongly interested in the versatile and charismatic defender.

The Romania captain had earlier delayed the operation in order to remain available to Inter in the latter part of last season both in the league and the Champions League.
