Juve Close In On Burdisso, Stankovic To Follow?
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter defender Nicolas Burdisso is closing in on a move to Juventus, while Dejan Stankovic could also soon join him in Turin.
Burdisso has been heavily linked with a move to the Bianconeri recently, and last week it was reported that transfer chief Alessio Secco and director general Jean-Claude Blanc had agreed that the Argentine defender was the man to strengthen the team’s backline.
The 26-year-old, who had something of a disaster-prone season, is surplus to requirements at Inter, as he is behind Ivan Cordoba, Walter Samuel, Marco Materazzi, Christian Chivu and Nelson Rivas in the centre back pecking order.
Burdisso was very close to joining Juve in January, and would have done so had Inter not plugged the deal at the last minute due to a spate of defensive injuries.
The Corriere says that Burdisso has given his consent to a move to Juve, and that Inter President Massimo Moratti will not stand in the way of a transfer.
Following him to Turin could be team-mate Dejan Stankovic, who has reportedly been put up for sale by new Coach Jose Mourinho.
The Serbian, like Burdisso, also had a poor 2007/08 campaign, but Secco and Blanc believe he is the man to solve Juve’s attacking midfielder riddle. An official transfer bid could be dispatched over the next week or so.
