Moratti puts brakes on Maicon exit

Inter President Massimo Moratti considers Douglas Maicon to be “quite indispensable”, putting the brakes on talk of a move to Real Madrid.
The Brazil international right-back is Madrid's No 1 transfer target this summer, but Inter aren't budging after already losing Jose Mourinho to the Spanish giants.
Speaking outside his offices in Milan, Moratti said: “We don't want to sell Maicon because he is a great player.
“The Brazilian has been asked for, but everyone gives the valuation that they consider to be the most just.
“I consider the player to be quite indispensable if we are to aim high, so…
“Someone from Madrid has presented themselves also because we have had chances to speak about [Maicon], but for the moment I am calm and the player is too while playing at the World Cup.”
When confronted with reports claiming that Inter had asked to co-own Xabi Alonso and several other Madrid players as part of a deal for Maicon, Moratti said: “I don't think there can be any.”
Meanwhile, Inter's chief technical director Marco Branca told Spanish newspaper AS: “Maicon is the best full-back in the world and for this reason his price is high.”
