Ranieri 'offended' by Inter claims Wednesday 19 May, 2010

Claudio Ranieri was “offended” at the way Inter celebrated their Scudetto. “If you win that way, at least have the good grace to keep quiet.”
Roma finished runners-up on the last day of the season, but the Coach was furious at comments from Nerazzurri captain Javier Zanetti.
“Some aspects of the last few weeks really offended me,” he told Il Fatto Quotidiano.
“For example, those statements like: ‘We won a Scudetto against everyone and everything.’
“This faintly ridiculous scenario makes me think back. Was it not enough to see Lazio-Inter for them to definitively realise what actually happened?”
Inter’s last major test on their way to the title was a trip to Lazio, but Roma’s arch rivals played controversially poorly with the entire stadium cheering on Jose Mourinho’s men to a 2-0 result.
“They saw a scenario that simply didn’t exist and in Italy quite a few people fell hook, line and sinker for a risible fairytale,” continued Ranieri.
“It does leave a bad taste in the mouth. If you go and win that way, at least have the good grace to keep quiet.”
There are reports emerging today that a police investigation is underway into threats received by the Lazio players before that match.
President Claudio Lotito had already confessed to receiving threats from Biancocelesti fans who wanted a defeat so as not to favour Roma.
The result did not affect their own relegation fears, as earlier that weekend Atalanta had been pegged back to a 1-1 draw with Bologna.
“As a sportsman, that game was an enormous disappointment. I had said so before, that it isn’t possible for the final three rounds of Serie A not to be played simultaneously.
“Business is what runs football now, so consequently you get unsightly spectacles like Lazio-Inter.”
