BARCELONA - The buzzword in Barcelona is remuntada and for Inter coach José Mourinho the Catalan club is 'obsessed' with reaching the Champions League final at the Bernabeu, while for Inter, an appearance in Madrid on 22 May will signify the fulfilment of a 'dream'.
"We have the dream of winning the Champions League and for Barcelona it's an obsession," said Mourinho in his pre-match press conference. "This is the difference. A dream is purer than an obsession. There is pride in a dream, anywhere in the world. For Barcelona it was a dream to reach the final in Rome, but to reach the final at the Bernabeu is obsession for them."
He added: "Barcelona are a top team with a top coach and top players. They have had the same philosophy of play for many years, but at the same time they are a team that has adapted. We have seen Ibrahimovic and Messi play in many different positions. It is a team full of diversities in its play. We have our way of playing, and we are thinking about ourselves. It's not a drama for us how they play."
And for Mourinho, the referees will pose no problems either: "I don't want to worry about the work of the referees. I only want to worry about the football, and if Barcelona do this as well then it will be easy for the referee. We're here to play, not to think about the referees. A referee is good when the players are good, so it depends on the players."
As for his lineup at the Camp Nou tomorrow night, Mourinho revealed that Wesley Sneijder is fit to face the Blaugrana: "Sneijder is fine and he will play. We will see after the match if he is okay for ninety minutes. He still has a small problem but he gave a positive response in our final training session and there are no doubts. The others? Julio Cesar, Lucio, Maicon, Samuel, Zanetti, Cambiasso, Sneijder, Eto'o and Milito, so that's nine or ten already..."
Barcelona's Gerard Piquè is hoping to make the Inter players 'hate the profession of football' for ninety minutes. "I won't reply to him because I have too much respect for his grandfather, who is a splendid person," said Mourinho. "The players are free to say what they want, only they can explain what they think. This isn't a problem for me. I am here to play a match."
A match which Inter start with a two-goal lead from last week's first leg. "It's 3-1 with ninety minutes to go," said Mourinho. "The return leg is different from the first leg because everything will be decided tomorrow. It's more important than the first leg. But there's only one final and like I have already said, this is not an early final. The final won't be Inter v Barcelona."
Mourinho's career began at Barcelona and the Portuguese coach was asked what he owes to the Blaugrana. "I owe to Bobby Robson because he gave me the chance to work at Barcelona," he replied. "I owe to the president at that time and to every person that worked in this club because they gave me a lot."
In the run-up to tomorrow night's clash the Spanish press have carried reports of Mourinho's supposed business interests with Benquerenca, the referee for last week's clash in Milan. "I have no restaurant with anybody," responded Mourinho. "Maybe Pep has a restaurant in Oslo..."
