MILAN - Inter captain Javier Zanetti was right on top of his game as he inspired the Nerazzurri to a 2-0 Champions League victory over Rubin Kazan.

He told Mediaset Premium: "I thank everyone. Today's match was too important. We couldn't mess up. It was important to qualify and right now it doesn't matter who we meet in the last sixteen. There was too much desire to get through the round today.

"Balotelli? We help him and we always give him advice. We stay close to him and try to be present in each day of his growth."
