Ph.D. position and Postdoc position at the Chemistry/Biology Interface @
University of California, Riverside
Field: Bioanalytical Chemistry, Chemical Biology, and Protein Engineering
Research topics: Fluorescent Biosensors / Molecular Optogenetics /
Ubiquitinated Proteome / Cell Reprogramming;
Temporary homepage:
http://ailab.webs.com/home.htmlGeneral Information: A junior research group, which will join the Department
of Chemistry at UCR in the coming July and target questions at the Chemistry
and Biology Interface, welcomes talented graduate and postdoctoral
researchers.
The research interests are focused on creating novel biophotonic tools to
modulate and probe biochemical dynamics in living cells through cellular and
protein engineering. Molecular tools that can spatiotemporally sense and
control cellular biochemical pathways, when coupled with light imaging and
proteomics, will help the dissection of complex protein post-translational
modification networks. The projects will enable students and postdoc fellows
to develop expertise in a combination of protein engineering, organic
synthesis, molecular and cell biology, microscopic imaging, or mass
spectrometry.
UCR is one of the ten general campuses of the University of California system.
Specifically, Chemistry is ranked in the top 51-75 chemistry departments
worldwide, according to the Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World
Universities. In addition, Riverside is close to both Los Angeles and San Diego,
and is a part of south California where a vibrant Biotech industry resides. As a
suburb of Los Angeles, Riverside is separated enough to keep its safe, quiet
and affordable environment, but remains an easy access to the big-city life.
Positions for Ph.D. Students: Students with the background in Chemistry,
Biology or Bioengineering are encouraged to apply. Please send your CV (ranks
of core Chem/Bio courses), and contact information for three references, to
huiwang.ai@gmail.com. In addition, please indicate in the email your general
research interests and expected career path.
Positions for Postdoc Fellows: Researchers who have been trained in organic
synthesis and/or molecular biology will be given first priority. The ideal
candidate should have experience in protein engineering and purification.
Please send your CV (education history and publication list), and contact
information for three references, to huiwang.ai@gmail.com. In addition, please
indicate in the email your research interest, how it fits into my research
program, and your expected career path.
